Mapping the Neanderthal genome
There’s an intersting interview with Svante Pääbo here. In case you’ve been living under a rock the last few years: Svante Pääbo is running the Neanderthal genome sequencing program.

You mention living under a rock, I just got back from ISMB09 and a guy stands up and asks Web Miller (after a talk on ancient genomics) whether anyone had thought of doing a Neanderthal. Dr. Miller responded, Uh arn’t they about to publish it, its all in the news.
What’s more interesting is Richard Green (the bioinformatics guy in Svante’s group) had just (session before) given a talk on the mtGenome of the Neanderthal.
